Popular boxer Victor Ortiz arrested for rape
Popular American boxing champion, Victor Ortiz has been arrested for rape in Oxnard.
The ex-boxing champ Victor Ortiz – has been charged with 3 counts of felony sexual assault, including rape, officials say.
The 31-year-old former holder of the WBC welterweight title in 2011, who also had roles in ‘Expendables 3’ and “Southpaw” surrendered to authorities in Oxnard, CA on Tuesday.
According to court records, the alleged incident took place inside of a home in Oxnard on March 19. The female accuser contacted police that same day and filed a report accusing Ortiz of sexual assault.
The Ventura County District Attorney’s Office has charged the boxer with 3 felony counts — forcible rape, forcible oral copulation and forcible digital penetration.
This arrest is coming days before Ortiz is slated to fight in Ontario,there is every indication now that the fight might be called off.
This is not the first time Victor Ortiz has been in trouble with the law he was arrested for DUI back in 2016. And in 2015, he was arrested after allegedly attacking a man at a Kenny Chesney concert at the Rose Bowl.
The 2005 graduate of Pacifica High School is a high-profile boxer to have come up through the Ventura County ranks. He held the WBC welterweight title in 2011 and was formerly rated as one of the top three welterweights in the world by many.
The arrest calls into question Ortiz’s plans to go up against his friend and former sparring partner Molina on Sunday night at Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario in a nationally televised event.
